It is the second half of August. The summer vacation is just coming to
an end in Poland. These are also the final days of the School To Farm
project.
We would like to thank you sincerely for being with us, observing our
and our students' activities oriented to gardening practice and the
development of natural and ecological concerns and awareness.
Szkoła jeszcze świeci pustkami, ale nasz ogród żyje swoim życiem. I to co jest końcem formalnego projektu stało się początkiem przygody naszych uczniów z poszanowaniem przyrody i rozwijaniem zainteresowania ogrodnictwem i wzrostem roślin..
The school still glows with emptiness, but our garden lives its life. And what is the end of a formal project has become the beginning of our students' adventure in respecting nature and developing an interest in gardening and plant growth....
Gdy we wrześniu koordynatorzy projektów będą zastanawiać się, czy wszystkie jego formalne części odpowiadają założeniom... dzieci będą chciały dowiedzieć się, czy na szkolnych poziomkach i białych porzeczkach pozostały jeszcze jakieś owoce.
When, in September, the project coordinators will be wondering if all its formal parts correspond to the assumptions.... children will want to know if there is any fruit left on the school's wild strawberries and white currants.
Gdy księgowi będą podliczać wszystkie słupki i statystyki... chłopcy i dziewczynki ze wszystkich klas będą zastanawiać się co można zrobić z upartym kasztanem, który pomimo ostrzeżeń dzieci i starannego oczyszczania donic i tak wykiełkował pod krzakami poziomki.
When the accountants will tally up all the posts and statistics.... boys and girls from all grades will be wondering what can be done about the stubborn chestnut that, despite the children's warnings and careful cleaning of the pots, sprouted under the wild strawberry bushes anyway.
Gdy urzędnicy będą przybijać finalne pieczątki pod sprawozdaniami... uczniowie ukradkiem będą próbować, czy szczypiorek po wakacjach jest tak samo szczypiący jak na wiosnę. A jeśli będą miały więcej przestrzeni, niektórzy być może sprawdzą, czy rosnący obok chwast to też nie jest zioło i czy nie smakuje bardziej :)
As officials put the final stamps under the reports, ... students will secretly try to see if the chives are as pinchy after the vacations as they were in the spring. And if they have way more freedom, some will perhaps check whether the weed growing next to them is also a not an herb and doesn't taste better :)
I na koniec gdy archiwiści będą rozglądać się za dobrym miejscem do przechowania projektu... mamy nadzieję, że nasi podopieczni będą zastanawiać się, czy w przyszłym roku będą rosły te same rośliny, które trzeba będzie zmienić i dlaczego ...oraz jak bardzo urosły drzewa, które posadzili na swoich działkach lub w parku.
Bo School to Farm to nie tylko wspaniałe doświadczenia w duchu STEAM - to rozwój nowych kompetencji, sprawstwa oraz pomysłowości zorientowanej na rolnictwo, ogrodnictwo, rozwój przyrody. To praktyczne kompetencje do rozwijania i powielania poznanych technik, wiedzy i praktyki. To kontynuacja zasianych pomysłów i rozwój nowych unikalnych pomysłów w młodych umysłach i sercach.
And finally when the archivists are looking around for a good place to store the project.... we hope that our mentees will wonder if the same plants will grow next year, which ones will need to be changed and why ...and how much the trees they planted in their plots or park have grown.
Because School to Farm isn't just about having a great experience in the spirit of STEAM - it's about developing new competencies, a sense of cause, and creativity oriented toward farming, gardening, and nature development. It's practical competence to develop and replicate the techniques, knowledge and practice learned. It is the continuation of seeded ideas and the development of new unique ideas in young minds and hearts.
Coś się kończy, ...coś się zaczyna Something ends, ...something begins
